Only five games played yesterday and my post is still late. YAY stupid real life job! Oh well, I got sushi out of the deal. Time for the Game Notes!
Remember wayyyy back to May when Ryan Howard was slumping and the fantasy geeks were saying Buy Low? I hope you listened. "Howard has 15 career multihomer games, including three this season. He has 46 RBI in the last 37 games." I didn't...
"The Rockies announced Jorge De La Rosa as the starter Thursday against Cleveland." De La Rosa has a nice K to BB ration (34/15) and a decent WHIP. That's where the good things end. He has an ERA of nearly 7 and a 1-3 record. I wouldn't even touch him in NL-only leagues.
"With Willie Randolph's firing, Scioscia is the only current manager who played in the 1989 All-Star game at Anaheim. The Angels will play host to the event again in 2010." Ummmm...yeah, whatever. I added this game note to allow me to talk about Randolph's mistreatment. Randolph is not solely to blame for the performance of the Mets. It was clear, however, that his time was limited. Why they would have him fly all the way to the West Coast then fire him after the game is baffling. To top it all, they fire him at 3:15 AM. Willie Randolph deserved better.
Make the pain go away! "Bengie Molina ended an 0-for-17 stretch with his sixth-inning single."
